How long does it take for the birth control to be effective?
Birth control is effective within the first week to 10 days. Without starting birth control, women can become pregnant 10 days to two weeks after termination of their pregnancy. One must remember that sperm can live for 5 days, so it is possible for women to have unprotected sex 5 days after an abortion and become pregnant.
