Getting Pregnant | How To Calculate Your Fertile Window
To calculate your fertility window, it is important to first know the length of your menstrual cycles, that is, the number of days between the first day of your period and the first day of your next period. Most often the cycle lasts 28-30 days. If the cycle is irregular, it is impossible to know precisely the date of the ovulation by doing a calculation.
Example: In a case where the cycle lasts 30 days. Your period always comes 14 days after ovulation. It is therefore necessary to withdraw 14 days to know the day of ovulation, that is to say on day 16. We know that the fertile period begins 72 hours before ovulation, three days, so day 13 of the cycle here. It increases until the day of ovulation (day 16) and then stops.
The Signs of Ovulation
The Ovulation itself can cause the following signs:
- Abundant, clear, stringy cervical mucus (similar to raw egg white).
- A slight rise in temperature.
- Period-like pain in the lower abdomen.
- An increase in the size of the lymph nodes.
- Bloating or even a slight weight gain linked to water retention.
- Increased libido.
- Small bleeding.
Tests sold in pharmacies make it possible to determine the moment of ovulation.
Period Of Fertility For a 25-Days Cycle
In a 25-days cycle, ovulation takes place on the 11th day. The fertile period is therefore between the 6th day of the cycle and the 11th. This calculation is correct if the period cycle is always 25 days.
Period Of Fertility For a 28-Days Cycle
In a 28-day cycle, ovulation takes place on the 14th day: the fertile period is therefore between the 9th day of the cycle and the 14th.
Can You Get Pregnant Outside Of The Fertile Window?
There can be no fertilization outside the fertile period. However, because it is impossible to predict with absolute certainty when you will ovulate, this interval may begin earlier or later from cycle to cycle. Note, “sperm can take two days to reach the egg. In fact, there is a” window “of fertility a little wider than the period of fertility. Thus, if you do not want to conceive, it is advisable to use contraception throughout the menstrual cycle.
