The major goal for treatment of any type of diabetes is the reduction of glucose levels in your blood.

Type 1 is often treated using insulin, exercise, and a diabetic diet. Type 2 is treated with weight reduction, diet, and exercise.

If any of these fail to work, often a doctor will subscribe oral medications. If this fails, then insulin is the most common choice.

A diabetic diet is one of the most important factors in quality treatment of diabetes. By lowering simple sugar
intake, your body will be able to handle it's glucose levels much more readily.

The ADA (American Diabetes Association) once declared a complete ban on simple sugars, but now recommend small amounts when eaten with full meals.

Exercise is another important part of treatment. When body fat is lowered, your body increases it's sensitivity to insulin, which allows the glucose to be easily broken down and used properly by your body.

You will want to talk with your doctor about specifics on both of these subjects. You will need to have a specific
diet and exercise plan created for you, as everyone's body will respond differently to these treatments.
