About Us - Frequently Asked Questions Dr. Pendergraft founded the Women’s Centers so that patients could end their pregnancies with the most advanced abortion procedures in a supportive, comfortable environment while being treated compassionately, respectfully and without judgment. The Physicians at the Women’s Centers have been highly trained in performing abortion services from before a woman even misses her first menstrual period through the late second trimester of pregnancy. We utilize the most advanced medical and surgical induction techniques available. Most abortion clinics do not perform early surgical abortion procedures due to unskilled or untrained Physicians and staff. The latest advancements in early abortion methods no longer require patients to wait until 6 to 7 weeks to terminate a pregnancy. The procedure can be performed as early as 3 to 4 weeks from the last menstrual period. At the Women’s Centers, the early abortion services we offer for terminating pregnancy are the non-surgical or medical abortion (abortion pill) or our early surgical procedure. No waiting is necessary. There is no longer a need for surgery that involves scraping the inside of the uterus (womb). With the ability to perform the procedure earlier in pregnancy, there is less pain involved and therefore most women can tolerate the procedure without any form of sedation or pain medication. Patients who choose to undergo early surgical abortion and have the procedure performed without sedation can eat and drink just before coming to the office. The recovery time is generally 10 to 15 minutes and patients may return to their normal activity after leaving the office. Patients may have sex 24 hours after the abortion procedure is completed. Patient safety and comfort always come first. Confidentiality standards for all patients are strictly enforced. The best possible care is always provided at the Women’s Centers. Your privacy is very important to us. We take these commitments very seriously. Women who wish to be the only patient in our office at the time of their service may arrange an exclusive appointment for an additional fee. Other services we offer are reproductive healthcare and family planning which consists of physical examinations, Pap Smears, screening and treatment for sexually transmitted disease (STD), and selection of the birth control method that is best suited for each individual patient. These services are provided by our highly trained Physicians and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners who practices under a supervised protocol.
